Audi RS4 Avant has evolved and modernized, but in some ways is a car that still retains the original flavor and engaging. We say this after having driven a distance of a couple of years from the proof of the RS5 Coupe, with which the RS4 Avant shares a large part of the mechanics.
During these two years we have gone in his hands a lot of other modern supersport. With powerful engines but a bit ‘boring, because supercharged disbursement flat, going off at traffic lights or halves the cylinders and the sound unexciting; suction bell enjoy a high-rev, rev counter reading on the 8500 “rpm” pulled for really sound and enjoy a thrilling V8 4.2 suggests that this is a white fly.
One of the last remaining, which certainly in the future will have to give way to some more “eco” and therefore, these days, to be seized to enjoy the last vestiges of passion. With 450 horsepower and a strong propensity to blend at very high speeds, shares that are currently found only in a Ferrari, Lamborghini, and not for long, about BMW M3, the eight-cylinder engine in the RS4 Avant then gives a strong character to the car, along with to a dual-clutch gearbox S tronic very well calibrated in software.
To make enjoyable the whole thing is there then the new quattro (four-wheel-drive system) drive with crown gear Torque Vectoring, which offers much more agility and dynamism although not yet reaching, clear, levels of enjoyment that can offer a pure rear-wheel drive. Even if we have to repeat the RS4 Avant and write the concept we have already made a couple of years ago in the case of RS5: road performance is very high, especially if the fund has a poor grip because there quattro is well understood his novel orientation “rear”. But in an extreme track use, the guide must be clean otherwise emerges understeer, and you can forget, of course, the choreographic oversteer which can give only rear wheel drive.
